Updated Top 100 Prospects Entering May

Yes, Jackson Holliday remains No. 1. Plus we unveil our latest cover issue headlined by Ronald Acuña Jr.

Updated 2024 Top 100 MLB Prospects

Our first significant in-season Top 100 Prospects update is here. This is a tricky update as our staff blends insights and injury news from early in the season while also allowing for relatively small sample sizes. We rely on our reporting and conversations with scouts and front office officials, while also leaning on MiLB data to detect real improvements or concerns.

James Wood and Jared Jones are among the big winners in this update, but they’re far from the only notable risers. Today’s update includes jumps for players in the Cubs, Mets, Blue Jays and Athletics systems, among others. Baseball America subscribers can see the full list below.

ACUÑA JR. RETURNS TO THE COVER OF BASEBALL AMERICA

Our May cover is here! Ronald Acuña Jr. headlines a loaded issue and returns to the cover of Baseball America for the first time since 2018. The upcoming May issue features…

  • Our MLB Top 100 players, beginning with Acuña Jr.

  • How the business of minor league baseball is changing

  • Scouting departments grade the 2024 draft class

Plus much more! You can preorder your issue below. If you’re curious when the last time your favorite team made the cover at BA, you can check that out here.

Here’s Why Jackson Holliday Remains No. 1 In Our Top 100

Jackson Holliday’s big league debut was rough. But as J.J. Cooper explains, Holliday still has a firm grip on the No. 1 spot in our Top 100 following our May update. Cooper details why our long-term assessment of Holliday remains unchanged and also points out several of the top prospects in baseball are in the midst of some painful growing pains in the majors.
