TIGERS’ SLUGGER CAPS HISTORIC AFL SEASON
AFL Hot Sheet: Josue Briceño Is The Fall League’s First Triple Crown Winner
In what will be the final Hot Sheet of the Arizona Fall League season, we’re clearing the stage for Tigers’ prospect Josue Briceño, who once again tops the list after a historic performance in the desert.
Over the course of six weeks, Briceño put together one of the finest seasons in the history of the AFL. The 20-year-old finished with a .433/.509/.867 slash line, which included 10 home runs and 27 RBIs. The performance amounted to the league’s first-ever triple crown and made him an easy choice for the league’s MVP.
Other Hot Sheet standouts this week include:
An 2024 Athletics draft pick who made the most of his short stint in the AFL
An Angels lefthander whose 0.75 ERA was a run and a half better than the next-best pitcher
A Phillies star prospect who looks ready for primetime in 2025 and beyond

11 Rising 2025 MLB Draft Prospects Entering The Winter
While we’ve been focused on minor league prospects in recent weeks at Baseball America, the draft is always on our mind, as well. This year’s draft lottery is approaching—it takes place on Dec. 10 this year at the Winter Meetings—and before we know it, the calendar will turn and college baseball will be underway.
As a bit of an appetizer for the upcoming spring draft cycle, here’s a look back at 11 players who made significant up-arrow moves up draft boards in 2024.
Highlights include:
A skinny 6-foot-5 prep lefthander from Illinois who added almost 10 mph to his fastball to put himself on the first-round radar
An Oklahoma State outfielder who’s a .352/.480/.743 hitter in college with 40 home runs in 110 games
A 2024 Cape Cod League all-star who ranked as top draft prospect in the prestigious wood bat league
