Multiple sources confirmed to Baseball America over the weekend that Tennessee’s Tony Vitello, one of the college game’s most dynamic and successful coaches, has emerged as the leading candidate to be hired as the next manager of the San Francisco Giants.
Obviously, there’s a lot to unpack here, as a potential Vitello jump from Rocky Top to MLB would shake things up around the game. Fortunately for BA readers, Jacob Rudner has been on the story from the start. Here’s a rundown of our latest coverage:

Arizona Fall League Hot Sheet: Week 2
This week’s Arizona Fall League Hot Sheet saw some historic numbers at the top of the list, as Esmerlyn Valdez delivered one of the greatest stretches in recent AFL history.
In only five games, the Pirates outfielder crushed five home runs, punctuated by a towering two-run shot on Sunday night that solidified his status as one of the league’s premier power threats. His season-long numbers are just as staggering: a 2.286 OPS and seven total homers so far, which is more than the yearly AFL leader often finishes with.
