How Alain Gómez-Gudiño’s Harrowing Journey From Venezuela Shaped His MLB Draft Dreams
Long before scouts began tracking him as a potential MLB Draft pick, Saguaro High catcher Alain Gómez-Gudiño carried his catcher’s mitt through a months-long journey from Venezuela to the United States with his family.
That experience, as he and his family crossed through rivers, jungles and survived multiple near-death encounters, led Gómez-Gudiño to Arizona, where his family has laid down roots and he has blossomed into an SEC commit and potential draft pick this July. Jesús Cano shares the full story below.
