Farm System Statcast Hitting & Pitching Rankings For 2024
With the 2024 season in the rearview, it’s the perfect time to begin picking over raw numbers to uncover key trends.
To that end, Dylan White has sifted through loads of Statcast data to offer up comprehensive rankings of all 30 farm systems based on critical hitting and pitching metrics. For hitters, we produced a all-encompassing Hit+ score built from a wOBA baseline, while pitchers were judged on a blended Stuff+ metric derived from our own internal model.
Highlights from the resulting data include:
An up-and-coming AL Central team that backed up a surprise inclusion at the top of last year’s rankings with another strong system-wide performance in 2024
An NL Central team whose efforts to target hit tools in players seems to be paying off in resultant contact rates
An AL East team that ranks in the top three for whiff percentage after making wholesale changes in pitching strategy this season
A surprising NL West team that appears in the top half of all pitching metrics

Roki Sasaki Sweepstakes Could Create Chaos For MLB International Signing Market
While Roki Sasaki’s impending posting to MLB is an exciting development for baseball fans in America, the timeline of the Japanese superstar’s arrival stateside also figures to wreck havoc on the international signing market.
As Baseball America’s Ben Badler explains, depending on when Sasaki signs, the repercussions for MLB teams, players and scouts who are already deep in the process for the current 2024 and upcoming 2024 international signing periods will be chaotic as clubs attempt to create as much bonus pool space as possible.
Unfortunately for young Latin American players looking to sign contracts when the new period opens on Jan. 15, it could come at the expense of their expected deals.
