Off The Radar Prospects To Watch In 2025
Plus: 8 candidates for 1-1, new Field of 64 & a pair of sleeper arms
Keep An Eye On These Under The Radar Prospects In 2025
One of the great things about the return of minor league games is the emergence of prospects with whom you’re unfamiliar. After all, the thrill of uncovering new and promising talent is what makes following prospects exciting.
Geoff Pontes has highlighted nine such players who have stood out so far and are worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses. Highlights include:
A Royals OF who’s hitting .407 with a familiar speedster-type profile
A pair of High-A Brewers adding to an already-loaded system
An 11th-round pick who could be next up for the Red Sox hitting dev boost
WHO WILL GO NO. 1?
8 Draft Prospects Who Could Go No. 1 Overall
Will the real No. 1 pick please stand up?
We’re halfway through this spring’s draft cycle and no closer to having an open-and-shut case for the top player in the class than we were back in February. If anything, the picture at the top of the class has gotten more opaque.
To help sort things out, BA draft expert Carlos Collazo made the case for eight potential candidates to hear their name called at 1-1 this July.

NCAA TOURNAMENT BRACKET PROJECTIONS
Updated Field Of 64 Projections (April 23)
We’re getting closer and closer to Selection Monday. In Baseball America’s latest Field of 64 projection, the SEC continues to show its postseason strength with a bracket-leading 13 bids.
Other conference leaders include the ACC (10), Big 12 (5), Big Ten (4) and Sun Belt (3).
With only a month left to play and RPI numbers becoming more stabilized (see below), our projected regional hosts no longer reflect the top 16 of the Top 25 rankings, but rather, a blend of standings and metrics.
THE NEXT PITCHING GEM?
Arms To Know: David Davalillo & Sean Linan
Uncovering the next diamond-in-the-rough pitching prospect is the goal for any team. At Baseball America, our team is also always on the lookout for developing success stories on the mound.
Two names that piqued our interest this week? How about Rangers RHP David Davalillo and Dodgers RHP Sean Linan.
Davalillo, No. 17 in the Rangers’ system, led the minors with a 1.88 ERA over 110 innings last year and has let up more than three runs just once in his pro career. Linan, meanwhile, is posting some of the best strikeout and whiff numbers to be found this season.
