  • A new No. 1 overall prospect

  • A trio of highly-touted shortstops cracking the top 10

  • A dozen new names and tons of ranking movement overall

So who made the cut in the May edition of our Top 100? Check out the complete list and read on below for more coverage, including a breakdown of the biggest risers and fallers, prospects who just missed the list and every college with a former player ranked.

TOP 100 RISERS & FALLERS

Risers, Fallers & New Top 100 Additions

As expected following a month-plus of player performance, injuries and industry feedback, there was a good deal of movement in the May update to the Top 100 Prospects list.

The highest-ranking debut player? That would be Guardians 1B C.J. Kayfus, whose impressive hit tool has him checking in at No. 64. Another fast-rising name to watch is Marlins catcher Joe Mack, who climbed a full 50 spots on the list, more than any other player.

5 Prospects Who Just Missed The Top 100

Each time we post a Top 100 Prospects update, there’s one question that arises more than any other: Who else came close to making the list?

The answer? Plenty of players.

Though the list is just 100 players deep, we discuss many more prospects along the way to finalizing things. To help provide some more context for our selection process, Josh Norris has compiled a list of five near-misses who may well join the Top 100 in a future update.

Updated Field Of 64 Projections (May 7)

An SEC team dropped from Baseball America’s latest Field of 64 projection after Week 12, but the conference produced its replacement, allowing it to maintain its nation-leading 13 bids.

The ACC (nine), Big 12 (seven), Big Ten (four) and Sun Belt (three) also received three or more bids. The Big West, Big East and Southland received two bids in the latest projection, including their automatic qualifiers.
