August Top 100 Prospects Update Is Here

With the draft and trade deadline finally behind us, the Baseball America prospect team is back with what will be our final major in-season update to the Top 100 for 2026. Highlights include:

• A shakeup inside the top three

• A fast-riser cracking the top 25

• Eight unranked players joining the list

So, who made the cut in the August edition of our Top 100? Check out the complete list and read on below for more coverage, including a breakdown of the biggest risers and fallers, plus updates to our 2026 movement tracker.

TOP 100 MOVEMENT 📈 

August’s Top 100 Risers, Fallers & New Additions

Our final in-season Top 100 update is a always crucial one, as the latest draftees have slotted into new ranks and traded prospects are with new orgs. There’s still time for players to enter once other prospects graduate, but this is the last major rework until the preseason version debuts in 2027.

For August, the biggest risers are a Dodgers righthander, a new Tigers prospect and a pair of Guardians. We also saw a half-dozen players get pushed off the list.

Each year, the East Coast Pro Showcase is one of the must-see high school events for scouts across the industry and consistently highlights future top draft picks.

This year’s crop of players was led by Georgia shortstop Malachi Butler, the No. 10 prep prospect for 2027 who impressed evaluators with a well-rounded toolset and solid instincts. BA draft expert Carlos Collazo has notes and video for Butler and more must-see prospects from this year’s showcase.

After updating our ranking of the top 500 dynasty players last week, we’re back with a new list of the best 500 fantasy prospects for managers to target ahead of their league trade deadlines this month.

A lot’s changed since our last update, included a flurry of graduations, new 2026 draftees and more than 20 ranked prospects having been traded at the deadline.
