Wyatt Langford’s Short Swing Generates Big Bat Speed

If you want to feel good about Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford’s chances to be a special hitter, here’s yet another reason to feel optimistic: when it comes to generating exceptional bat speed and power from a very short swing, he stands out.

Today, we’re diving into MLB’s new Statcast bat speed data. J.J. Cooper assesses which qualified hitters stand out, and also examines which players have the quickest (and slowest) acceleration from the start of his swing to full speed.

Tennessee Remains No. 1 In Updated NCAA Top 25

Tennessee remains No. 1 in the Baseball America College Baseball Top 25 Rankings after another SEC series win, its eighth straight.

The Volunteers won their first two games at Vanderbilt to claim the in-state rivalry series. This is Tennessee’s second straight week at No. 1.

Kentucky rises to No. 2, matching its highest-ever ranking in the Top 25. It was last No. 2 in April 2012. Arkansas, North Carolina and Texas A&M round out the top five.
