MLB Trade Deadline: Everything To Know

The 2025 MLB trade deadline period—which goes till 6 p.m. ET on July 31—finally began in earnest Thursday night when the Mariners and Diamondbacks got together on a deal to send first baseman Josh Naylor to Seattle in exchange for a pair of pitching prospects.

Will Naylor’s now-former teammate Eugenio Suarez be the next to go? Or could we see one of the big pitching names like the Twins’ Joe Ryan and Jhoan Duran be moved next? And will a Top 100 Prospect finally be dealt after none were a year ago?

10 Prospects Needing A Strong Finish

The 2025 season has been an eventful one for the game’s top prospects. Some players have delivered on their lofty expectations, even graduating from prospect status along the way. Others have stumbled, unable—so far—to match the hype that once surrounded them.

But the beauty of the game lies in its length: The second half is still unfolding, and there’s time yet for players to turn things around.

With that in mind, Jesús Cano has identified 10 scuffling prospects who could use a strong finish in the second half of the season.

FYPD Top 100 Dynasty Rankings After The Draft

At the moment, the new 2025 FYPD class is unlikely to be viewed as historically strong five or six years from now. But there is value to be had for savvy fantasy managers now that the MLB Draft is over and we know where this year’s crop of first-year players has landed.

To help fantasy managers navigate the muddled draft class, Geoff Pontes has compiled our initial ranking of the top 100 players from the 2025 MLB Draft. We’ll update this list throughout the offseason, ultimately adding in 2026 international signees following the January 15 signing date.
