Get Ready For The MLB Draft Lottery
Three years in, the MLB draft lottery has become a must-see event for baseball fans.
In the first two iterations of the lottery, we’ve seen the ping pong balls fall for a team with the best odds for landing the top pick in the Pirates for 2023, and we’ve seen a huge statistical upset with the Guardians claiming the No. 1 overall pick for 2024 despite just a two percent chance of winning.
Will the lottery drawing for the 2025 draft, which is set for Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. ET at the Winter Meetings in Dallas, have more surprises in store?

We’re kicking off our rollout of end-of-season awards with a real doozy: the San Diego Padres are Baseball America’s organization of the year for 2024.
Though their postseason run ended prematurely at the hands of the to-be champion Dodgers, the Padres claim the honor in no small part due to the efforts of late Padres chairman Peter Seidler and head of baseball operations A.J. Preller in helping to redefine what is possible in small-market San Diego.
In his story for BA, Jeff Sanders provides a in-depth timeline for how the 2024 Padres came together, from Seidler’s untimely death and the Juan Soto trade to the influence of new manager Mike Shildt and the emergence of rookie Jackson Merrill as the team rallied to make a playoff push.
