MLB Draft Combine Standouts

Plus: Transfer portal rankings, breakout pitchers & players we want to see in FL

Day 1 MLB Draft Combine Standouts

The MLB Draft combine has become a key event on the draft calendar. The 2025 edition of the event kicked off on Tuesday, as more than 300 of the top draft-eligible players in the country (see the full list here) arrived at Chase Field in Phoenix for interviews with MLB teams, on-field workouts, athletic testing and medical examinations.

Baseball America is on scene in Arizona this week to conduct interviews, scout players, get video and more. Highlights from day one of the combine include:

  • A college OF averaging over 110 mph EV and maxing at 116.9

  • A HS righty getting up to nearly 98 mph

  • A top-ranked HS prospect backing up his “best pure hitter” status

Baseball America has been updating our portal tracker for several weeks, and now we’re excited to launch the first installment of our annual transfer portal rankings, which are currently topped by outfielder AJ Gracia, who is headed from Duke to Virginia.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we expand and refine our portal rankings to include the top 100 players transferring to new programs for next season.
