We’ve spent the first few weeks of the 2025 draft season diving in on college players. Now it’s time to move to the prep ranks and highlight a few notable risers from early-season reporting around the country.

Arguably the buzziest high school player out there is Alabama shortstop Steele Hall. The quick-twitch defender went 34th in our latest mock draft and has reportedly undergone an offensive transformation this spring that puts him at the top of Carlos Collazo’s list of helium HS players to know.

Each year, Geoff Pontes, Dylan White and Matt Eddy build a team of prospects we expect break through in the upcoming season.

This year, we conducted a draft to ensure that we each had a unique breakout team with no duplication of players. We used the loosest possible definition of a breakout candidate—only players who don’t appear on the preseason Top 100 Prospects are eligible. Drafted positions included C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, UT and four P.
