Baseball America Staffers Pick Their Breakout Prospects For 2024

With the rest of the minor league slate beginning Friday, it’s time to settle on some breakout picks.

Geoff Pontes, Matt Eddy and Dylan White continued their annual tradition of selecting full teams of potential breakout picks. There are some ground rules.

1) A player can’t rank on our Top 100

2) When possible, we’re placing an emphasis on players without much pro experience

You’re going to see some overlap between the three teams (hint: Mariners righty Logan Evans and Yankees LHP Kyle Carr, among a few). That should provide a signal to which players have the most buzz entering the season. The Yankees, Mariners, Phillies and Tigers are well-represented.

You can see the following three teams here.

The guys had a pretty good track record last year, too. Geoff can count Ethan Salas, Mason Miller and Xavier Isaac among his wins. Matt was all over Colt Keith, Spencer Jones and Robby Snelling. Dylan tabbed Luisangel Acuña, who the Mets coveted in a trade not long after.

We hope you enjoy it. Here’s to another year of minor league baseball!

ROAD TO OMAHA

Our Latest NCAA Tournament Field Of 64 Bracket Projection

As the college baseball season hits the halfway point, the Road to Omaha is taking shape. While there’s still a lot of baseball to be played, it’s not too early to break down the postseason picture. At this time of year, the emphasis is very much still on “projected.” This is not meant to be how the tournament would be seeded if it started tomorrow. Instead, it is meant to illustrate what it might be expected to look like on Selection Monday.
