20 Prospect Performances That Could Mean Something—Or Nothing—Early In 2026
One of the challenges early in the season is deciphering which player performances are a result of tangible skills changes and which are just small sample size noise. And with key early-season updates to BA’s Top 100 Prospects and team Top 30 lists on the horizon, monitoring these early-season performances is crucial.
To that end, Ian Cundall has compiled a list of players who have consistently piqued our interest so far. Whether they’re under the radar, trending up or raising concerns, these are the names we’ve been paying attention to early in 2026.
NEW HOT SHEET
Braden Montgomery Tops The Hot Sheet
Baseball America’s Hot Sheet ranks the hottest prospects from the previous week while also identifying a weekly helium player to keep tabs on.
This week’s Hot Sheet is topped by Braden Montgomery, the White Sox outfielder who helped headline the trade that sent Garrett Crochet to Boston. Now in year two with Chicago, Montgomery turned 23 this past week and celebrated in style by putting together the best week of his young career.

NCAA TOP 25
New Top 25 College Baseball Rankings
It was a relatively stable week throughout the college baseball Top 25, with just five teams moving five or more spots. Ranked teams also went a combined 67-33, marking the group’s highest one-week win percentage (.670) since Week 4 (.790), before conference play began across all power leagues.

STATCAST STANDOUTS
Pedro Ramirez, Kevin Alcantara Headline 10 Statcast Standouts
Every Monday morning, Eli Ben-Porat highlights 10 players who stood out over the previous week based on underlying Statcast metrics, which often serve as early indicators of breakouts or players who might be ready for MLB roles. Highlights from this week’s list include:
Two Cubs hitters who have made huge gains
A Marlins pitcher who might be the next Kris Bubic
Blaze Jordan hitting the ball a lot harder & making more contact
Eric Cerantola’s improved slider mowing down Triple-A batters
An interview with Indiana RHP Jackson Bergman
ROBOSCOUT IS BACK
RoboScout Returns With Top Fantasy Prospects At Every Level
Welcome to RoboScout 2026.
It’s still early, but we’re far enough into the Triple-A season to begin drawing some directional takeaways. Hitters at that level are averaging roughly 55 plate appearances, which is enough for early trends to start coming into focus. Double-A and the lower levels remain in a much smaller sample range—closer to 40 plate appearances on average—so the analysis there is necessarily lighter, even if a number of notable performances have already emerged.
Check out RoboScout’s complete set of prospects below.
