70 Prospects Who Scouts Are Buzzing About This Spring
We scoured Arizona and Florida minor league spring training for standouts. Here are the names who came back most frequently from scouts.
70 MLB Prospects Who Impressed Scouts On The Backfields
Arguably our favorite exercise of the spring is here! Today, we’re examining the standout prospects from our conversations with scouts across both Arizona and Florida minor league spring training.
This story annually delivers a handful of players primed for future breakouts. In 2021, that list included players like Francisco Alvarez, Brayan Bello, Anthony Volpe, Kyle Harrison, Michael Harris II and Gunnar Henderson.
Last season’s list included Dodgers standouts Thayron Liranzo and Josue De Paula, Pirates arms Bubba Chandler and Anthony Solometo, White Sox (then of the Angels) catcher Edgar Quero, Tigers infielder Colt Keith, Rockies bopper Yanquiel Fernandez and dynamic Angels outfielder Nelson Rada.
This year’s piece is bigger than ever before. And it includes some of the bigger names on the Top 100 (hello, Paul Skenes, Spencer Jones and Dylan Crews, just to name a few) as well as plenty of under-the-radar players we may be writing about for the first time. We hope you enjoy!
MLB DRAFT
Baseball America Staff Draft Version 1.0
Welcome to our first staff draft for the 2024 class.
We’re almost halfway into the college season, so it’s time to put on our scouting director hats and see how the draft would unfold if teams were foolish enough to give us keys to the draft room.
This is not a mock draft. We’re not making picks in an attempt to project what actual big league clubs will do on draft day, but making selections based on who we would take if we were in the decision-making chair. And the conversation for 1-1 was quite interesting among our five staff writers.
