10 Recruiting Classes That Just Missed Our Top 25

It’s always difficult to trim the list of recruiting classes in college baseball down to a top 25 ranking. As is the case every year, a number of schools end up having a valid argument to make the list but end up just missing out.

As such, Peter Flaherty has a compiled a rundown of 10 programs that just came up short on cracking our final top 25 recruiting class ranking for 2025. The list includes some blue blood programs, but also a handful of other schools that could be in store for an exciting 2026 season thanks in part to their newcomers.

MiLB YOUNGSTERS

Which Systems Got The Most Production From Young Prospects?

Over the past couple weeks, Baseball America has highlighted many of the underlying analytical numbers that organizations use to evaluate prospects in the minor leagues by way of Geoff Pontes’ series on Stuff+ rankings and Dylan White’s Hit+ rankings.

Now, we’ve also analyzed organizational production in the minors from a purely results perspective by focusing on players who were young for their leagues. After all, a 28-year-old producing in Triple-A or a 23-year-old dominating High-A may help a team win MiLB games, but it’s not nearly as notable from a prospect perspective as a 20-year-old handling High-A.

UP-ARROW ARM TO KNOW

Kendry Chourio’s Maturity, Confidence Driving Rapid Prospect Rise

Signed for less than $250,00 in international free agency this past January, Royals pitching prospect Kendry Chourio has been one of the fastest-rising arms in the minors this season.

Armed with a mid-to-upper-90s fastball and a pair of impressive secondaries, the 18-year-old righthander climbed all the way to Low-A in 2025, where he helped pitch the Columbia Fireflies to the Carolina League championship series.

Speaking with Chourio for an exclusive Spanish-language BA interview, Jesús Cano chronicles how the Venezuela native’s impressive poise and maturity has helped fuel his rapid ascent.
