For each of the past few seasons, Baseball America has used sourcing to obtain non-public Statcast data so that we may provide greater context for the prospects we cover.

Early in 2025, Geoff Pontes has identified 10 higher-profile prospects whose proprietary data suggests bigger and better things are in the offing. Highlights include:

BA’s Latest College World Series Prediction (May 9)

Baseball America is back with a brand new College World Series projection featuring six teams that held onto their spots and two newcomers replacing Clemson and UC Irvine. 

This week, we’ve also included included a list of the opponents BA has projected into each regional and potential super regional that our Eight for Omaha picks would need to get through en route to the College World Series.

7 Top 100 Prospects Facing Concerns Early In 2025

When we update our Top 100 Prospects rankings, we try to make sure we’re judicious about how we move players on or off the list. But we also don’t want to leave a player on the rankings after front offices no longer view them as a top-tier prospect. 

In our May Top 100 update, there were a number of high-profile players who took significant moves down the rankings. They aren’t necessarily headed off the list, but we are getting feedback that raises concerns and could put them on notice for future Top 100 updates.
